Foods for Healthy Skin

9 comments:

  1. This is really informative, Tanya. I do get most of these important vitamins from supplements. I take them not because I want a healthy skin, but to boost my immune system. I didn’t know that they also help maintain a healthy skin. It’s really good to know that there are more benefits to taking food rich in vitamins and antioxidants.

  2. I believe that the food we consume has certain effect on our overall health, including our skin. However the things we do (or not do) affect our skin as well. Lack of sleep is very harsh to the skin. The effect is immediate, all you have to do is look at the mirror. So, aside from eating the right kinds of food, make sure to get enough sleep too.

    1. Sleep is very important for skin care. I know this for a fact as I suffer from insomnia. It dries up the skin fast. My skin was really terrible and I aged fast. I made up for it by drinking water and fresh juice. Of course, I needed to get to the bottom of the problem, which was insomnia.

  3. You are what you eat! I completely agree, it's important to eat foods high in anti-oxidants. I've heard that though it's important to eat foods high in Omega-3 fatty acid, we should avoid foods that are also high in Omega-6 fatty acid, as they are bad for us and can counteract the goodness of the omega-3. Have you heard this before?

    1. Yes, I've heard of the bad effects of Omega 6. I think it has to do with the ratio of consumption of Omega 3 and 6. We are consuming more of Omega 6 when we should be consuming more Omega 3. If reports are to be believed, Omega 6 causes more inflammation in the body. Now, we need to know which food have high Omega 6 so we can avoid them.

    2. I've read some of the dangers of Omega-6, mostly on heart health. But it's still a topic of debate among medical practitioners. It's not entirely bad to consume Omega-6, but it's when we consume too much of it that it becomes a problem. To be on the safe side, we need to consume in moderation.

  4. I take those fish oil supplements. I must say that they taste a little nasty, with that fishy aftertaste, but it's something I can tolerate. I take it mainly to lower the bad cholesterol levels, but knowing that it works great on skin too, is a pleasant surprise. I also keep myself hydrated, so I'm hoping that I'm doing the right thing.
